ORC Office reveal!

Well, here she is! The office I have been dreaming about for a very long time. I am so happy & relieved & exhausted, but mostly happy!

This week I finished the gallery wall. This was the one piece of this room I was so excited to do because it made it feel complete. I have been hoarding objects for this gallery wall for a few years so it feels really good to finally have a place to display them.

Gallery Wall Tutorial

For this Gallery wall I did a really simple trick of measuring the height of the wall and laid out painter's tape on the floor the same length

Then I got to work and moved things around until I got a layout I was happy with. This part can take a while. You have to strike a balance with your objects so it does not feel uneven.

Then I used a combination of nails, command strips, push pins, & tape to hang my objects to the wall. I did this to A. keep things feeling more casual & eclectic and B. make them easier & faster to hang.

The beauty of gallery walls is that they can be whatever you want them to be. If you want a more simplistic, traditional look then you can do that. Here is a more symmetrical gallery wall I did in our TV room. If you want to throw things that you love on the wall, you can do that too. My approach leans much closer to the throw-it-on-the-wall approach. I really loved the idea of an eclectic gallery wall for this space because to me it draws so much inspiration and holds so much more room for sentimental pieces. I didn’t want everything to feel permanent so I can move things around & add on when I want. That way it can always feel fresh & new to me!

The One Room Challenge was exactly what is says- A challenge. But in the best way! I have learned a lot about my skills (and what I need to do more of to put in my skills category), I have met a lot of great people, & made this space into exactly what I was hoping it could be.

Now it’s time to put this space into use before the Holidays. Then, some much needed rest over the Holiday season. If I am not back before then, have a great rest of your 2021!
